The moment I heard Rihanna was releasing a beauty line, I was hella excited! As soon as it dropped I knew I had to get my hands on some products!
The collection dropped on Friday, September 8th at 12a pacific time, so I definitely woke my ass up at 3 a.m. eastern time to put in my order. Now, I originally wanted to wait and go to Sephora to get matched for a foundation color, but I couldn’t wait. So, I guessed my color based on random swatches from Instagram and the Fenty Beauty website.
I ordered from Sephora, because I just wanted it to be easier to exchange if the foundation color I chose was not correct. My package came fairly quick, I received it on Wednesday and I’ve been wearing it ever since!
Let’s start with this foundation!
I purchased the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation in the color 420. The color actually ended up working out perfectly. I could probably go down a shade if I lighten up a bit more this winter, but 420 was a great match! I also watched my YouTube auntie, Jackieaina’s review and she tried the color 410 as well and didn’t notice a crazy difference, so I’m content with the color I chose.
Overall, I think it’s a great everyday foundation with a light to medium coverage. I LOVE the natural, matte finish. As an oily girl, I was pretty impressed with how long the foundation stayed matte and when I did get oily it was more of a cute glow that was easily remedied with some blotting.
Also, shoutout to Rihanna and her team for really slaying with this shade range. I hope other brands take notes, because brown girls DEFINITELY buy makeup. I won’t even admit how much I spend on makeup on a regular basis, it’s none of ya business…LOL.
But on to the Match Stix…
So, as you all may know, these Match Stix’s are magnetic! The packaging is so damn chic and the highlighter and contour sticks are my fav!
The highlighter stix in this trio comes in the color, Sinamon. I’ve been using it as a highlighter and an eyeshadow.
The contour stix is called Espresso. I don’t usually contour with creme but this blends out very nicely and has a great color. Recently, I found out it is a creme to powder formula, so that explains the nice blend-ability. I think it’s a great stick for beginners who want to start contouring, since it’s so easy to use.
My least favorite from the trio is the concealer stix, which is in the color Suede. Now, I don’t hate it, but it doesn’t give me as much coverage as I would like for those days that you need it! LOL. I found myself layering it with other concealers and I definitely had to set it under my eyes, because I’ve found that it does crease on me.
Next up is the lip gloss aka Gloss Bomb!
I love the Gloss Bomb! It’s great for everyday, just to add a little somethin’ somethin’ to yo lips and it smells great. I joked about it giving me a grown up, classy LipSmackers vibe. LOL.
So many people were talking about how they were surprised Rih didn’t come out with more lip products, but I’m sure there’s more to come! I mean she did start with 40 shades of foundation, y’all gon take this one lip gloss that works for everyone for now! LOL.
Last but definitely not least is the highlighter!
Of course, I got Trophy Wife and all of it’s ridiculous, glittery glory!
It is literally gold on yo face and I live for it! LOL.
Trophy Wife is literally goddess levels of highlight! Women across the world are sending out beams of light like signals for us to band together in these perilous times!
All jokes aside, Trophy Wife is hella pigmented and very yellow-based, so I advise to trend lightly. It can be very beautiful when used lightly. I’ve also seen many people using it as an eyeshadow, which is also gorgeous.
It’s very much of a makeup junkie product, that is just fun to wear when you feel like doing a little bit too much! LOL!
In conclusion, here’s a pic of me in my full Fenty Face (not including Trophy wife).
Overall, I’m loving Fenty Beauty and I’m excited to see what else Rih Rih and her team have up their sleeves!
Let me know if you have tried any products in the comments! Or if you want to try anything!?!
Next I want to try the primer, blotting powder and the highlighter duo in Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule!
